Prepare Your Model

Which file formats are compatible with Vividlyapp?

Export your project from 3D software in one of the Vividlyapp supported file formats: .obj, .fbx or .dae. The file size should currently not exceed 50MB and 100.000 polygons for the best possible experience.

What if I don't see my model's glass elements in Vividlyapp?

Most softwares export the glass elements correctly, but if you can’t see glass elements (ex. Revit FBX export) as transparent materials all you need to do is simply name those elements as “glass” or give it any other name including the word “glass” in it and the platform will do the magic to apply a transparent shader to those elements.

What if my model is too big?

You can resize your model in your 3D modeling software. The size is affected by the complexity of geometry and polygon count. There are several ways how to optimise your model. A quick way is to delete any unwanted or irrelevant geometries from your original model. Additionally there are built-in tools within 3D modeling software and 3rd party plug-ins that reduces the polygons. (ex.ProOptimizer modifier for 3DS Max)

Can I use my own style?

Currently several styling options are preselected for testing. Our team is constantly working with artists, creatives and designers to create individual styles for the best presentation. Feel free to contact us if you have ideas of styles.

What are viewpoints and how do I use them for my project?

Setting viewpoints is a highly suggested part for presenting your project. They are used as presentation/teleportation points in both 3D and VR mode respectively and also they serve as keyframes for the flythrough of your project. You can position your viewpoint by using the arrows and once you are satisfied, accept the position and you will jump into that location so you can adjust the viewing angle by panning the screen. Keep in mind that all viewpoints are preset at 1.7m height. Viewpoints in Vividlyapp are represented by numbers, we have already generated your first viewpoint but you can always modify it the same way as every other viewpoint.

How do I know my project was saved?

Your project is saved automatically in "My Projects" from the moment it is uploaded on Vividlyapp and it continues to save automatically with every step or change you make inside the platform.

How can I use and share my project?

Your unique project URL is generated at the last stage of the project preparation and is accessible any time under the saved project in My projects. You can copy and paste it to share, include in presentation or open on mobile device. Use shortcut buttons to share your project directly to social media. Embeddable code generated for your project allows integrating interactive presentation of your project right into your website or project page.

What hardware do I need to get started with Vividlyapp and VR?

You can view your projects in VR mode on your mobile with cardboard or from your computer with a headset:

There is a short list you might need to consider before starting:

  1. Decide what you want to use virtual reality for. External presentations, internal reviews, simulations and similar workflow related use cases require higher level of immersiveness and interaction, i.e. high-end VR experience. Overall people engagement and project showcasing might be supported by mobile VR integration, sharable and accessible from any mobile device, i.e. mobile VR.
  2. Once you've decided what you want to use VR for, choose appropriate headset. For VR on your smartphone (Google Cardboard, GearVR or similar), for high-end VR on desktop (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive).
  3. Selecting the right computer to power the experience. WebVR is developing in high pace, yet for the high-end presentations it is suggested to consider buying powerful computer to run the headset. If you want to try mobile VR, just make sure your mobile device meet the specifications for best quality.
